Upstate New York Grandson Stabs Grandfather, Both Arrested

Following an investigation, a Hudson Valley grandfather was also arrested following emergency surgery after he was allegedly stabbed by his grandson.

On Friday, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office announced that a grandfather who was stabbed to death by his grandson has also been arrested.

On December 16, 2022, deputies from the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office charged 24-year-old Supreme Faison with stabbing to death his 69-year-old grandfather, Robert L. Gibbs, at the grandfather’s home off Route 42 in South Fallsburg.

A bulletin was issued to keep the police on the lookout for Faison. Around 4:30 a.m. the next morning, Fallsburg Police notified deputies that the suspect was staying at an apartment complex on Laurel Ave. was spotted in South Fallsburg. A sheriff’s patrol arrived and took the suspect into custody.

Faison was charged with assault, felony and misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon and threats.

He was brought before Fallsburg City Judge Jaime Kaminski and sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of cash bail.

The grandfather drove himself to the Granet Health Urgent Care facility on Concorde Rd. in Lake Kiamesha, where he was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Gibbs was transferred to Garnet Orange Regional Medical Center, where he underwent surgery for a stab wound to his abdomen.

He is now in stable condition.

Fallsburg, New York man Man arrested for gun possession who was stabbed by his grandson.

While investigating the incident, detectives recovered a loaded handgun from Gibbs’ vehicle, which was parked in the Urgent Care parking lot, police say.

While investigating the stabbing scene, detectives also allegedly recovered two long guns from Gibb’s apartment.

“The handgun and one of the long guns were reported stolen to state police in the 1980s. Mr. Gibbs has already been convicted of a felony that prohibits him from possessing a gun,” the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.

Gibbs was arrested this week and charged with felonies of criminal possession of a firearm and criminal possession of a loaded gun. He was arraigned in Fallsburg City Court and released on $5,000.00 bail pending a future court hearing.

The police did not give a motive for the first stabbing.
