Fans applaud Victoria Groce for her unbelievable final chase on The Chase 2023

The Chase aired a brand new episode on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 10:00 p.m. ET on ABC. In the hour-long episode, three contestants answered the maximum number of questions and battled the chaser to earn the full amount of money they bet on.

For this week’s episode of The Chase, contestants had to face off against Victoria “The Queen” Groce. The episode saw many close calls as the chaser was right behind the contestants. However, in the final chase, the Queen destroyed the contestants, who lost their total claimed $120,000. Fans were thrilled to see Victoria back in action as they took to social media to applaud the pursuer.

This week’s episode of The Chase began with three contestants, Traci Mack, David Abolafia and Tanya Melendez, competing for the cash prize with pursuer Victoria “The Queen” Groce. The three candidates first had to take part in their first challenge, which involved answering a few questions correctly with moderator Sara Heines.

They then had to compete against the pursuer to claim the money earned. The contestants had to do their best and earn a maximum amount of money in the Q/A session in order to have a chance to comfortably compete against the pursuer, in this case “The Queen” Victoria, who was sitting on a royal throne. all ready for battle.

The official synopsis of the episode titled As RuPaul Says, The Library is Open reads:

Returning to the throne as Chaser, Victoria “The Queen” Groce faces off against a diversity executive, a mystery writer and a graduate student in a battle of wits. Sara Haines (ABC’s The View) Hosts A Brand New Episode Of The Chase

Traci made $60,000 and stuck to the amount despite Victoria offering a lower amount of $3,300 and a higher offer of $175,000. The competition was tight as some of the contestant’s incorrect answers saw the pursuer directly behind her and the contestant risked being eliminated. However, she managed to transfer the amount to The Chase.

David had to claim his $40,000 from Victoria while deciding whether to choose between a lower offer of $10,000, stick with his original amount, or gamble for a higher offer of $150,000. He decided to gamble for his earned $40,000 and eventually claimed the same, even with a close call from the chaser.

Tanya was the third and final contestant in this week’s episode. She earned $20,000 in the Q/A session and decided to stick with her original amount despite her opponent’s pursuer making a lower offer of $5,000 and a higher offer of a whopping $250,000. While the other pursuers at the studio wanted her to accept the higher offer and make the game interesting, Tanya decided to play it safe.

Tanya faced several close skirmishes with pursuer Victoria, but ultimately demanded her $20,000. The three contestants then proceeded to the final chase with $120,000, where they had to claim the money against the pursuer one last time.

For the Final Chase round, the three contestants had a 3 question lead, but managed to get 17 questions right, for a total of 20 questions. However, pursuer Victoria managed to answer them all in the final chase with 20 seconds remaining on the time clock.

Victoria “The Queen” Groce joins fellow Chasers James “The High Roller” Holzhauer, Buzzy Cohen and Brandon Blackwell as each week one of the Chasers sits on the royal throne to challenge contestants to an exciting game. The Chasers are all trivia experts and will put their opponents to the ultimate test to snag the cash prize.
