Saturday’s boys’ high school roundup: Brunswick tops Thornton in hockey showdown, 2-1 in OT
BIDDEFORD – AJ Wolverton scored twice, including the winner in extra time, to elevate reigning Class B state champions Brunswick to a 2-1 win over Class A contenders Thornton Academy at Biddeford Ice Arena on Saturday night to lead.
Wolverton’s second goal came 2:25 into overtime and was unassisted.
Thornton (9-3), who ranked first in the Varsity Maine poll, went 1-0 up with 6:29 of the first period when Kyle Lesieur plugged a rebound past Brunswick goaltender Luke Patterson. The Dragons (9-0-1), No. 2 in Varsity Maine polling, leveled the game at 9:26 of the second period when Wolverton tipped a Zach Stern-Hayes shot over the shoulder from the top of the circle Trojan goalie Drew Johnson.

FOREST HILLS 58, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 36: Braidan Welch had 19 points and 10 steals and Cooper Daigle added 14 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Tigers (10-1) to a win over the Guardians (4-8) at Jackman .
Forest Hills also got 12 points from Blaine Nadeau.
