The eighth season of the highly anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) is finally upon us. The PSL 2023 Player Draft has started successfully and the veteran T20 stars have been brought in by their desired franchises through an extensive drafting process.

Explosive foreign talent like David Miller, Alex Hales, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Wanindu Hasaranga were among the top picks in the Player Draft.

The Player Draft started with the Platinum Round when Lahore selected Qalandars as the first player. Qalandars chose the services of front batter Fakhar Zaman while Quetta chose Gladiators Hasaranga and Miller was chosen by Multan Sultans.

Islamabad United brought in England batsman Alex Hales, Karachi Kings opted for Australia wicketkeeper Matthew Wade and Peshawar Zalmi entrusted Bhanuka Rajapaksa to boost their batting attack.

In the second round, the Quetta Gladiators picked their first player in the form of Pakistan’s top paceman Naseem Shah. Zalmi signed Rovman Powell, the Caribbean batsman, and Karachi enlisted the services of Proteas spinner Imran Tahir. In contrast, Islamabad filled in for Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Sultans hired Irish pacesetter Joshua Little.

Since Quetta Gladiators had already retained some platinum players, they were not allowed to select another platinum player.

The Diamond Round also witnessed some stunning picks from the franchises. Peshawar Zalmi roped into Mujeeb-ur-Rahman, Kings caught James Vince and Fuller while Gladiators took on Caribbean all-rounder Odean Smith.

The Diamond Round was followed by the Gold, Silver and Bonus Rounds. All of the domestic players also experienced a great response from the franchises. PSL Season 8 is scheduled to start at the end of January.
