We are just over a week away from Christmas Eve and Christmas. Now is the time when panic sets in for those who want to do their Christmas shopping and make the final preparations for the Christmas celebrations that are about to take place.
Knowing what weather to expect for the holidays is something everyone wants to know. “Are we getting a white Christmas?” “Will it snow or even be warmer than usual?”
Temperatures were colder this December than in previous years and that will not change next week either.
Most of New York state is basically guaranteed a white Christmas, with lake-effect snow warnings in place for western New York and central New York on Lake Ontario.
Temperatures will only peak in the 20s and low 30s next week and on the 23rd we could see another significant snowfall for regions in the state, with bitterly cold temperatures for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
AccuWeather is forecasting the Midwest and Northeast’s likely coldest Christmas in “decades”…
Temperatures will be in the teens or 20s on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with a potentially colder wind chill.
For places like Chicago, elevations could be in the teens and wind chills in the minuses.
The threat of more snow is also a story as we approach Christmas. We know there will be plenty of snow this weekend for many, but there will be even more snow next week.
It will feel like the Christmas carols we sing every holiday season; “Sleigh Ride” could become a reality on Christmas Day this year.
