A-Train Station, Tortugas Pizza, Davenport’s earn 95 + food service scores in November

Several Birmingham area restaurants — including the A-Train station in Birmingham’s West End, Mountain Brooks Davenport Pizza Palace and Tortugas Pizza across from Regions Field — earned 95+ points for their hospitality last November.

Each month since 2018, Bham Now has reported on the Jefferson County Department of Health’s Restaurant Ratings. Over 100 local facilities that process and serve food are inspected by the health department, including:

restaurants
schools
nursing homes,
day care centers
hospitals
Super Market
concession stands

Food inspection results are regularly updated on the Jefferson County Department of Health website.

Winner of Bham Now’s 2022 Nowie Award for Best Food Truck – A-Train Station opened its first stationary location this fall. The new restaurant has added a few menu items, including a catfish and shrimp basket.

A Birmingham original, Davenport’s in Mountain Brook was established in 1964 before pizzerias were on every corner. In fact, Davenport’s was one of the first in the community. The best thing about Davenport’s? Their menu is very simple. pizzas and salads. They do both very well.
