Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV Bookings Open in India for Rs 1 Lakh, Claims 631 Km Range

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV is arguably one of the most anticipated electric cars in India and the company’s first BEV to be launched on Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP).

Hyundai Motor India has opened bookings for the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV at Rs 1 lakh in India. According to the company, the Ioniq 5 EV will have a claimed range of 631 km per charge.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 was developed under E-GMP, which allows the company to maximize interior space. The car also features eco-friendly materials at various touch points. Coupling the powerful performance of this BEV with an ultra-fast charging capability of 10% – 80% in just 18 minutes (with a 350kW DC charger) and innovative solutions such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L): Inside and Outside, Beside Hyundai SmartSense (Level 2 ADAS), the Hyundai Ioniq 5 is poised to redefine the electric mobility lifestyle like never before.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 features a unique exterior design that features clean and sharp lines, with contours that give this BEV a distinct SUV silhouette. The face of the car is defined by the distinctive Parametric Pixel LED headlights, reflecting the unique pixel signature, a design inspiration for this BEV. The clamshell hood features a smooth and seamless design, and the car also features an active air flap (AAF) that improves aerodynamics when closed and cools vehicle parts when open.

On the sides, the Ioniq 5 is defined by Z-shaped lateral character lines, and the biggest attraction are the 20-inch alloy wheels with a parametric pixel design, which are also said to help the car’s aerodynamic efficiency. Also visible from here are the flush door handles, which automatically pop out when the driver is close.

At the back, the parametric pixel design is continued with the parametric pixel LED taillights. The rear spoiler with high-mounted LED brake light (HMSL) sets sporty accents.

Inside, the Ioniq 5 gets a dark pebble gray interior and sport seats made from eco-processed leather. Soft-touch materials are used on the dashboard and door, and it carries the pixel design on the armrest, seat pads and steering wheel.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment and is equipped with a Bose sound system with eight speakers, which can also reproduce six types of ambient sounds of nature. In addition, the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster shows all the information the driver needs.

The car has an impressive wheelbase of 3000 mm, which makes it possible to create a huge cabin space for passengers. The combination of a flat floor and sleek cockpit design, sliding center console and sliding glove box gives it a futuristic feel.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 comes with a 72.6 kWh battery and gets a permanent magnet synchronous motor that has an output of 217 hp and 350 Nm of torque. It can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes via a 350kW DC fast charger. However, there are barely a handful of such chargers across the country.

Interestingly, the Ioniq 5 also features Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, which allows the car to deliver up to 3.6 kW of power. The V2L connector is located under the second row seats. Another V2L connector is located on the charging connector on the outside of the vehicle. A converter allows customers to power electrical devices such as laptops, phones, and other devices.

In addition, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has more than 60 connected car functions with a three-year free Bluelink subscription, which includes services such as remote locking/unlocking, live location and SOS services. On the safety front, it’s equipped with six airbags, disc brakes on all wheels and Level 2 ADAS features consisting of assistants such as Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Intelligent Cruise Control.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is offered in three exterior colors: Gravity Gold matt, Optic White and Midnight Black Pearl.
