Outlander’s New Spinoff: Starz Give Official Greenlight For ‘Outlander: Blood of My Blood’

The hit series Outlander has been a sensation since it started in 2014. Fans of the show can look forward to even more as there’s now an upcoming spin-off based on author Diana Gabaldon’s popular book series. This Outlander spin-off aims to bring viewers back to the world of time travel and Scottish culture that made the original show such a success.
Starz has confirmed the making of the Outlander prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood. The writers’ room for the upcoming drama series about the romance of Jamie Fraser’s (Sam Heughan) parents, Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, has officially opened. Starz has revealed that Outlander prequel Blood of My Blood is currently in development. And it comes just as Outlander Season 6 casting is underway.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood is a love story. It examines how deeply a person will discover love at a time when love is considered a luxury and marriages are often deliberately arranged for political or financial gain, as Roberts explained.
Sony, Tall Ship Productions and Story Mining & Supply Company are behind the prequel along with executive producers Roberts, Moore and Davis.

The new spin-off follows two of Gabaldon’s characters from her eighth Outlander novel in the franchise, Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone. While plot details are being kept under wraps, fans can expect to learn more about Jamie and Claire Fraser’s daughter, Brianna Randall, and her husband, Roger MacKenzie, as they explore their unique adventures in colonial America. Outlander Season 6 is slated to begin production later this spring, while no start date has been set for the spinoff series.
Last summer, Deadline contacted Starz about the project, but they declined to comment. This sparked rumors of an Outlander prequel.
