Fairfield Prep boys ice hockey defeats New Canaan in Darien

DARIEN — James Murphy scored 22 seconds into overtime to give Fairfield Prep a 5-4 win over New Canaan at the Darien Ice House on Friday.

New Canaan led 3-1 after a period and 4-3 after two periods before the Jesuits scored the last two goals.

Fairfield Prep (3-0), who beat three FCIAC teams this week, is ranked 3rd in the GameTimeCT Preseason Poll, one spot ahead of New Canaan (1-1) in 4th.

Prep defeated Greenwich 5-3 in Vin O’Hara’s first game as head coach on Tuesday and Ridgefield 4-1 on Wednesday.

Junior forward Blake Baksay led the Jesuits with four points on two goals and two assists, with one of those assists coming to Murphy’s game-winner. Senior defender Will Huntington scored the goal that leveled the game in the third period.

Young forward Doster Crowell had two goals and an assist for the Rams.
