This year, Christmas Day falls on a Sunday.
Many shops and services on Prince Edward Island are closed on December 25th and Boxing Day.
Some shops will also close on December 24th or have reduced opening hours.
It’s best to call ahead before you go to confirm if they are open or closed.

Here is a list of the opening hours of some of the island’s main businesses and public services:
Provincial offices, including Access PEI locations, will close at 12:00 p.m. on December 24 and reopen on December 27.
All PEI Liquor Stores are open until 5 p.m. on December 24th and will reopen on December 27th with regular opening hours.
All PEI Cannabis stores will be open until 5pm on December 24th and will reopen to regular hours on December 27th.
The Slemon Park and Park Street COVID-19 testing sites will be open December 24 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
All COVID-19 testing sites and testing and vaccine booking lines will be closed on December 25th, 26th and 27th.
Summerside Parish Offices will be closed December 24-27 and will reopen on December 28 at 8:30 am.
Charlottetown City Offices will be closed for lunch on December 23rd and will reopen for regular hours on December 28th.
Atlantic Superstores close at 5pm on December 24th and are closed on Boxing Day and Boxing Day. They will reopen on December 27th at 7am.
All Sobeys stores are closed on Boxing Day and Boxing Day. Sobeys stores close at 5pm on December 24th
All Murphy’s Pharmacy locations are closed on Christmas Day. Some including Cornwall, Kensington, Stratford, Parkdale, Queen Street, Kinlock and West Royalty are open on Boxing Day and hours vary by location.
The Confederation Court Mall will close at 4:00 PM on December 24th and reopen at regular times on December 27th. The Shoppers Drug Mart is open until 9pm on December 24th, closed on Christmas Day, and reopens at 10am on December 26th.
The Shoppers Drug Mart locations at 403 University Ave. and 675 University Ave., Summerside’s Country Fair Mall and Kinlock Plaza will be open on December 24th, 25th and 26th. Opening times vary by location.
Lawtons Drugs locations are closed on Christmas Day but will reopen on Boxing Day. Opening times vary by location.
Royalty Crossing, the former Charlottetown Mall, closes at 5pm on December 24th and reopens at 9am on December 27th
The PEI Public Libraries close at 12:00 on December 24th and on December 25th and 26th.
All Island Waste Management Corporation collections will continue as normal over the holiday period.
IWMC drop-off centers will close at 12:30 p.m. on December 24. They will remain closed on December 25th and 26th and will reopen on December 27th at regular times.
T3 Transit City Transit will not operate on December 25th and December 26th. It will be operational on December 24th, but some timetables have changed, so check the website. Rural transit will not operate on December 24-26.
Canada Post will not be offering regular mail pickup or delivery from December 25 through December 27. Mailrooms at franchise locations may be open according to the host company’s hours of operation.
