It was the first point the majors of the Great North U18 League clinched after three straight defeats against Southern Ontario rivals in the tournament’s U18 Moore division, and it came against a Rangers side who won their first three games would have.
The majors opened the event with a 3-2 setback against the York Simcoe Express on Thursday before losing 5-3 to the Richmond Hill Coyotes and 7-1 to the Central Ontario Wolves on Friday.
To claim their first point of the tournament, the Majors had to fight back from a 1-0 deficit.
Daniil Grishachev’s first goal of the tournament had put Rangers ahead in the first half.
After a goalless midfield, Ian Lachance’s second goal of the tournament, a power play marker, gave the Majors the win.

Finn Marshall went the distance in the net for the Rangers while Sam Rudner manned the kink for the Majors.
EXPRESS 3 MAJORS 2
Liam Nelson’s goal 5-50 in the third period propelled the Express to their 3-2 win over the Majors at the Kinsmen Arena on Thursday.
The Majors were first on the scoreboard in the competition, with Tyson Scott scoring to give them a 1-0 first-half advantage.
Cooper Woron got the Express back on track with the lone mid-frame goal.
Ethan Neller then gave York Simcoe a 2-1 lead but Scott’s second goal of the game ended things for the Majors.
James Kamakaris went the distance at the net for the Express to take the win while Majors goalie Alex Hall was marked with the loss.
COYOTES 5 MAJORS 3

Kyle Grasby scored twice to lead the Coyotes to a 5-3 win over the Majors in their second game of the tournament at the Asphodel-Norward Arena on Friday.
Matthew Dangelo, Dawson Boiley and Matthew Panacci also scored for the Coyotes, who had three unanswered goals in the third period to secure the win.
Ryan Armitage, Eric Hunter and Lachance answered for the majors.
Bronx Bodner was between the whistle to earn the win for the Coyotes while Rudner was marked with the loss for the Majors.
WOLVES 7 MAJORS 1
Wolves scored goals from seven different players as they handed the Majors their second loss of the day, 7-1 at the Cavan-Monaghan Arena.
Charlie Paton put Wolves on the scoreboard with 55 seconds remaining on the clock in the opening stages.

Zach Secord’s unassisted power play marker put the Majors on the scoreboard seven minutes later, but the rest of the contest was all Wolves.
Trent Nobes extended his lead to 3-1 with 59 seconds to go.
And goals from Josh Russell, Zach Caron, Dylan Leslie and Mason Hancock in the final frame broke things wide open for Wolves.
Michon Echano went the distance in goal to take the win for Wolves while Hall was marked with the loss for the Majors.
The Majors return to action on Saturday when they host the New Liskeard Cubs at McIntyre Arena at 7 p.m
